Among UNESCO sites, mountains, villages and water.
Starting from the shelter Colombé in Cimbergo. An awe-inspiring trip among many farmhouses and renovated chalets, fountains, forever watched over by the imposing Concarena. The route, although not many kilometres rises rapidly, but you can always stop at a shelter on the way and enjoy the magnificent setting surrounded by the awe-inspiring mountains. Continuing and even struggling a little and maybe resorting to pushing the bike by hand for some distance, you will be rewarded by tasting the "Fiorit" in a mountain hut, or buying the homemade cheese for your arrival at the mountaintop shelter Colombé. And if you so wish, here you can find the hidden jewel. Amid cliffs and engravings in this spectacular environment the specialist guide will tell us and show us the signs revealing the incredible story of this place.
BY BIKE OR ON FOOT
Complete tour of Lake Iseo. Alternatively, and no less demanding, we will cycle along the two most characteristic shores of the lake, taking the boat to Monte Isola, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. At the end of the bike tour in Monte Isola, we will take the boat back to the opposite shore reaching the starting point or your hotel or vacation home.
We will depart either by bike from your hotel or vacation home or alternatively we will pick you up with an organized minibus and bicycles on board if you don't have them.
Places still preserved.
Two shores that look so different but equally beautiful.
MONTISOLA. ITS HISTORY, ITS SARDINES, ITS FLAVORS…..
Riding along one side of Lake Iseo, we will board the ferry with our bikes and cross to the island to one of the villages which is considered to be one of the most beautiful villages of Italy. Montisola is the biggest inhabited lake island in Europe, once known for its production of fishing nets and today for the production of the Ligurian Gozzo (hand-made wooden boat), the delicious salami and sardines in oil. We will continue our tour by exploring this beautiful island. Want to get to the top of the island at 415 m high, combining mountain and lake? Here on the summit we will find the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ceriola.
64 KMS ALONG THE SHORES OF LAKE ISEO
If you would like to cycle completely around the whole lake be prepared to ride for 64kms. If it seems too much, don’t worry; we can stop as many times as you like in one of the many lakeside villages or some small towns.
AMAZING LANDSCAPES OF THE LAKE TO REACH
As an alternative to Montisola, on a more challenging route, we will reach heights with breathtaking views of Lake Iseo and the mountains that surround it.
Bossico, Valle di Scalve.....................................
L'autunno e il monte Guglielmo sullo sfondo
One day a friend told me, "when you get to this place time seems to stand still." Bossico is a wonder! Whilst protecting their traditions and the environment the people of Bossico (the Bossiches) are developing a particular type of tourism caring about their environment. Following paths in the pine forest, continuously taking us up and down, we will reach the top of the hill and be rewarded with a breath-taking view of the lake and mountains. Barbecue and picnic areas can be found for those who would like to eat al-fresco. Would you rather eat in a restaurant where good food is guaranteed? Do you want to buy excellent cheese from one of the many local farms? Or see a series of historic villas built mainly by the tradesmen from the Sebina area? If there is a, "whynot"? It is worth explorin the reasons why they have been built here!
1 - Scalve Valley - Vivione pass 1,827 mt
(Total cycling 40 km, altitude difference of 900/1000 mtrs ascending and descending. Asphalt road and dirt tracks set in spectacular landscape.)
We will follow the small river Dezzo and climb in altitude until we reach our starting point. From here, after a short distance we will arrive at an attractive pine forest and continue on the track until we join the road leading to the Pass. This is a beautiful area for those who enjoy alpine skiing. When descending I'll show you something particular designed by an artist that I really like! If you feel like tasting tagliatelle (ribbon noodles) with roe deer sauce or pizzoccheri or Bergamo casoncelli, or braised steak with polenta or stinco (shin of pork), here you will be satisfied! If the day for you is still long and you love minerals / fossils you might like to visit the old mining park or maybe go on a guided tour of a mountain dairy taking home a small formaggella (homemade cheese), just let me know!
2 - Scalve Valley towards another pass. Which one? Come and find out!
The route is partially on asphalt road and partially on dirt tracks.
3 -Scalve Valley
The route is almost all on dirt tracks, including a short grassy slope, a good workout. About 25kms in total. If the weather holds and you like to look around you, for sure, you will return satisfied!
